Welcome Message

Dear friends,

After the resounding success of the second BARICON held in year 2019, it gives us great pleasure to announce the AIIMS BARICON – 3rd International Conference on Bariatric and Metabolic Surgery to be held on 28th September to 1st October, 2022. There are many conferences being held in Bariatric Surgery across India but the AIIMS assurance of a great scientific content and inclusion of only reputed and experienced faculty as speakers is what makes this conference different. The theme of the Congress is “Maximizing Long Term Outcomes”.

Our meeting starts with the Cadaver course at AIIMS where a small group of 10-12 surgeons get hands on experience on performing bariatric surgical procedures on a fresh cadaver. They will be mentored by experienced faculty with ample time for one-on-one interaction. On the 2nd day Operative workshop is planned with a variety of cases which will be performed by experienced faculty from India and abroad. The next two days are dedicated to debates and discussions with emphasis on long term outcomes. We have excellent speakers with most of them having a huge experience and publications in bariatric surgery.

The venue for Cadaveric workshop and the live operative workshop is AIIMS, New Delhi. The main congress on 30th September and 1st October 2022 will be held at the Taj Vivanta Hotel, Dwarka, which is close to Delhi's international (IGI) airport. There will be two parallel halls on both the days. There will be multiple sessions for Allied health professionals including bariatric coordinators, counsellors, dietitians, psychologists, and physiotherapists specializing in care for bariatric surgery patients. There will be a session on manuscript writing and paper publishing as well.

To encourage presentation of high-quality research work, we have made a provision for Ten bursaries for young surgeons selected on basis of quality of submitted abstracts in the form of stay at venue hotel and complimentary registration.

We have collaborated with Dr Haris Khwaja to convene the 46th IBC Symposium as a part of our scientific programme.

With autumn setting in, we expect a pleasant weather in Delhi during the event for you to have a great time in the capital city of India.

On behalf of Department of Surgical Disciplines, AIIMS and Foundation for Obesity Research and Metabolic Surgery, we invite you to a great academic feast and look forward to welcoming you in New Delhi.
